Press ReleaseFor Immediate Release - Monday 25 June 2007 Barrie Book Best in Province Beautiful Barrie, The City and Its People: An Illustrated History of Barrie, Ontario received the Ontario Historical Society's Fred Landon Award at the Society's annual meeting held Saturday in St. Catharines. The Fred Landon Award honours the best book on regional history published in the Province of Ontario over the past three years. In presenting the Award to authors Su Murdoch, B.E.S. Rudachyk and designer Kurt H. Schick, the Society praised Beautiful Barrie as "comprehensive in historical portrayal, elegant in writing, lavish in illustration, and consummate in design." The authors noted: "We are pleased and honoured to be this year's recipient from among a number of worthy regional histories. It is always gratifying to be recognized by one's peers. We undertook this project to highlight the vital history of our city and the many and outstanding stories of its people. This prestigious award makes Beautiful Barrie an even greater ambassador for the city.
